Overtown is on the cusp of a renaissance, and we’ll tell you all about it.

The History
Overtown is a historic neighborhood in Miami named by residents who affectionately referenced “going over town” en route to visit the community. It was once known as an entertainment and business mecca where prominent African Americans lived and worked. After the construction of I95, it became one of the poorest neighborhoods in the country.

The Highlight
Overtown is in the midst of revitalization. When the construction is done, there will be more homes, retail, commercial space and office space, not to mention a stop on Brightline trains. Overtown will soon return to a vital area for shopping, business interaction and entertainment paying special attention to its history and culture.
