About GoingOvertown
GoingOvertown.org was launched and created in 2019 to tell the story of Overtown, one of Miami’s most historic and culturally significant neighborhoods, in a way that is engaging, accessible, and community-driven. It has since grown into a multi-neighborhood information hub serving communities across South Florida. Rather than serving as just another website, it was designed as a digital hub where history, culture, local businesses, events, and neighborhood voices come together in one place. Built by Stephanie Creates, the platform combines storytelling, photography, video, social media, newsletters, and a community directory to celebrate Overtown’s rich legacy — and now the legacies of surrounding neighborhoods — while showcasing their ongoing growth and revitalization.
GoingOvertown.org now applies this same community-first approach across neighborhoods throughout South Florida — from Liberty City and Little Haiti to Model City/Brownsville, Perrine, Richmond Heights, Florida City/Homestead, and beyond. With the same passion for authentic storytelling and local engagement, each neighborhood is celebrated for the unique history, culture, businesses, and people that make it special — building a growing network of digital destinations that preserve local heritage while supporting economic growth, tourism, and community pride.
